Kevin Barry Division Awards

President’s Award

In 1979, Kevin Barry AOH President James McGinley created the Presidents’ Award in memory of deceased past presidents. The two pillars of the AOH are the focus of the award, Catholicism and Irish heritage. 

2025 Recipient: Bob Welch, JR.


Thomas B. Shea Memorial “Hibernian of the Year”

This prestigious award was established long ago to recognize an active AOH member who has contributed much of his time and talents to the growth and stability of the Kevin Barry Division.

Hibernian Scholarship Awards

Since 1985, through the generous support of our members and friends, the Kevin Barry Division has awarded over 60 scholarships to deserving high school students. The first scholarship were sponsored through the Frank M. Kehoe Family. Beginning in 2016, the WhiteMoriartyMcCaughna families began funding additional scholarships. More recently, the Dugan and McNulty families have established scholarships.

All awards are determined by review of the applicant’s essay on the following topics:

  • Scholastic achievement
  • Extracurricular activities
  • Irish heritage
  • Involvement in Church, community and Irish culture
