It is with sadness that we inform you of the passing of Joe Mattingly, member of Kevin Barry Division 3.


Obituary

Joseph G. Mattingly, 93, of Indianapolis, passed away February 6, 2021. He was born September 24, 1927 to the late Adrian J. and Mabel L. Mattingly. Joe was a graduate of Arsenal Tech High School, and attended Butler University. 

He married Mary C. Gannon, October 5, 1946, and was a Tool & Die maker for Western Electric for 15 years. After retiring from Western Electric, he was the owner/operator of the Hideaway Tavern and Ravenswood Package Liquor for 22 years. Joe was a longtime member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Joe was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, the Knights of Columbus and the Moose Lodge. He was also a volunteer football coach for Cathedral High School for many years. 

Joe is survived by his loving wife of nearly 75 years, Mary C. Mattingly; children, Patricia J. Caragher, Jamie N. Mattingly, Angela M. Aldrich (John) and Joseph T. Mattingly (Carolyn); 15 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, David Michael Mattingly; sister, Margaret Roberts; and brothers, Carl and Dencil Mattingly.
