Our Irish ancestors have seen great adversity and have benefitted from the generosity of many. Please help pay this back, and forward, by helping the people of Haiti.
St. Matthew and Christ the King are twinned parishes with a parish in Boi de Lance, Haiti; the parish priest is Pere Max, and he defines “hero” as a “shepherd to his flock.” If you’ve followed the news there for the past few years, you know the words “bleak”, “dysfunctional” and “dismal” do not fully describe the situation for our brothers and sisters in Haiti. Due to the pandemic, and now the violence, the Indy parishes have not been able to send members to help, and our support has been in the form of money and prayers. Both are sorely needed. St. Matthew and Christ the King support schools, and the students and teachers, and two churches. In the past, volunteers have helped train the Haitians to grow food, raise chickens, and sew. Most of these endeavors have now ended due to the collapse of the Haitian economy.
