SUMMARY:The Lord's Pantry at Anna's House Family Volunteer Day\, August 15\, 2015
DESCRIPTION:Fresh produce\, meat and bread are distributed each Saturday morning at the food pantry — The Lord’s Pantry. Volunteers sort and display hundreds of pounds of donated food that will be given out to those in need in the Stringtown neighborhood. \nHistory\nThe History of The Lord’s Pantry began in 1989\nIn 1989\, or so\, the ministry of The Lord’s Pantry began. Lucious Newsom was inspired after volunteering at the Mozel Sander’s Thanksgiving dinner to create something in Indianapolis that would feed folks in the area — body and soul — year round. \nAssisted by numerous volunteers\, Lucious’ dream of serving the poor of Stringtown came true. Whether providing groceries each Saturday along the sidewalk\, from the bait shop or from a warehouse\, those ministering to the underserved and marginalized on the near-west side of Indianapolis hoped for something more… they hoped for a building where those in need of assistance could be served. \nThe History of Anna’s House began in 2006\nIn 2006\, the dream became a reality when Anna’s House opened its doors for Thanksgiving dinner. The building was named for Anna Molloy\, friend of Lucious and all who joined in serving the poor of Stringtown. \nToday\, the ministry of serving the poor continues as volunteers come together each week to provide and support various outreach programs to the families of Stringtown. The generosity of volunteers and financial supporters allows The Lord’s Pantry at Anna’s House to continue to grow the dreams of Lucious and Anna.

DESCRIPTION:Since 1870\, the Irish of Indianapolis have gathered to celebrate their faith and heritage at the Ancient Order of Hibernians’ St. Patrick’s Celebration. \nThe celebration takes place on the Sunday before St. Patrick’s Day and is composed of three parts: \n• 10:30 AM Mass at St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church\n• 11:45 AM Parade from St. John’s\n• 12:30 PM Lunch Banquet at the Indiana Roof Ballroom with live Irish performances. \nThis Year’s Agenda\nFor 2015\, we are honored to have Father Glenn O’Connor serve as Emcee for our banquet. Brian Cunningham and the Irish Airs with guest vocalist Shannon Forsell and the Richens-Timm Irish Dancers will provide entertainment for the afternoon. And we will present our annual Hibernian-Kehoe Scholarships to two deserving young students\, as well as the President’s award to an individual who represents the dual pillars of the AOH: Irish Heritage and Catholic Faith. \nAll are welcome to attend this unique event that celebrates Irish Catholic Heritage and the impact Irish-Americans make in our community. \nTo purchase tickets to the St. Patrick’s Celebration\, please contact ticket chairman Chuck McGinley at (317) 359-7147.\n

DESCRIPTION:The Kevin Barry Division is proud to once again partner with the Indy Irish Fest for a weekend of celebrating Irish culture and heritage. As in years past\, the division will provide a hospitality tent for members and operate a food stand in order to raise funds for our charitable efforts. While this fest is a great opportunity for our members to enjoy fantastic food and entertainment\, it is also an opportunity to serve the division and our community by volunteering for a couple shifts. \nHighlights include: \n\nOur Tent: Located right in front of main stage and in the center of all the fun\, there’s no better place to be.\nFood: We have some of the tastiest sandwiches at the best prices\, and all proceeds go to charity.\nBeverages: Specifically\, beer. AOH members receive a one ticket discount on each beer at our tent.\nNotre Dame: Yeah\, we know they are playing right down the street this year\, but we’ll have it on TV too!\nRaffle: ND tickets?
